Castletown Upcoming Events
Castletown House re-opens for the 2010 season on Saturday 13th March.
Commencing from Sunday 14th March and then every Sunday thru the season Castletown will hold Childrens Education Workshops.
There will be two workshops available, 10.30 to 11.30 and 11.45 to 12.45.
Workshops are FREE and suitable for children between 5 and 12 years of age. There is a maximum of 10 children per class so booking is essential. Please telephone 01 628 8252 to speak to a member of staff to reserve a space for your child. All bookings will be confirmed the day before workshops take place. Parents/Guardians must accompany children for the duration of the workshops and are welcome to participate. All materials will be provided and the majority of workshops will be led by Castletown House guides and staff with additional workshops led by Celbridge Community Council.
Sunday 14th March Time: 3-4pm
Celebrate National Tree Week with a walk and talk in Castletown House grounds to discuss the "Where, When, Why and What of trees of Castletown demesne". Meet our local trees with Dr. John Olley, Landscape Historian. Admission FREE, wear suitable footwear. Group meeting at the front steps of the house from 2.45pm. All welcome.
St. Patrick's Day 17th March
Time: 12-3pm Facepainting with "Funny Faces" in colonnade of Castletown House.
Time: 12.30pm Seachtain na Gaeilge, Irish language tour. This is a FREE tour with no pre booking of tickets available. Maximum number of tickets is 25 so please arrive early to get your ticket from the guides reception for this tour. All Welcome.
Time: 2-4pm Children will be entertained by "Julie the Storyteller" in the West Wing, Linen Room. No tickets/No booking required. Parents/Guardians must accompany children during the duration of storytelling. All Welcome.
Time: 2-4pm. Traditional Irish Music in the Main Hall. This is a FREE, Seated Event. No tickets/No booking required. All Welcome.
Sunday 9th May
OPW Castletown House and Bord Bia are delighted to announce that The 10th anniversary of the Rare and Special Plants Fair will be held in Castletown House on Sunday 9th May. Come and attend a "Flora and Fauna talk" with Pat Moran, attend a lecture with Dr. John Olley, Landscape Historian who will discuss "Plants and planting at Castletown in the 18th century". Meet our Castletown Gardeners and avail of the opportunity to buy and view some wonderful rare and special plants that will be available for sale on the Castletown House forecourt from gardeners, garden centres and nurseries. There is FREE admission to attend this event and all are welcome.
